The Day I Spoke to Steve Backshall

It was early on a summer’s day when we went to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.We heard that there would a bird show in the “Birds of the World” arena presented by Steve Backshall. He is the presenter of “Deadly 60” which is a show about dangerous animals in their native habitats.

When we got to the arena we waited for 15 mins to get in and about 10 mins for Steve’s colleagues to get the show ready. Whilst we were waiting there was a comedian who entertained the crowd.

During the show there was a stork, a macaw, a meerkat (I don’t know why they brought that to a bird show), a falcon, an owl and finally a cast of hawks. Out of all the birds I enjoyed watching the falcon the best because of the way that it swooped swiftly down to catch the lure.

At the end of the show there was a question-and-answer session and I was fortunate enough to be able to ask a question. I asked, “How fast is a peregrine falcon?” I asked this question because there are many opinions on it.

You can click on the video below to hear the answer.

In the past I also thought of being a nature presenter like Steve Backshall and a few years ago I made a video about butterflies.

After watching Steve Backshall in person at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo I have decided that I would like to study nature more and present more videos!

Thank you for reading my journal and I’ll be back soon.

  1. Most people think meerkats are part of the cat family, but in fact they are also birds. It’s just that their wings are so small that they can’ t get off the ground.
